3Celadon Group, Inc.’s (NYSE: CGI) Celadon Trucking Services announced that Heavy Duty Trucking magazine has recognized Celadon with its first Fleet Technology Expo 2015 Heavy Duty Efficient Fleet award.  Celadon was one of three trucking firms to be awarded the honor.

The award recognizes trucking companies that have used alternative fuels or technology to increase environmental sustainability and efficiency.  In presenting the award, the magazine cited Celadon’s use of battery-powered auxiliary units, driver incentives and strict enforcement of its idle policy that significantly reduced its moving average fleet idle time.  In July 2010, idle time for its vehicles sat at 49.2 percent.  In July 2014, that number dropped to 17.6 percent, saving the company 18.5 million gallons of diesel.

H. Sherb Brown, VP & Group Publisher of Bobit Business Media, presented the award at the Fleet Technology Expo in Long Beach, California on August 26, 2015.  Mike Griffin, Operations Manager, and Tim Harris, Assistant Operations Manager, attended the expo to accept the award for Celadon.

This award clearly demonstrates to our customers and our community at large that we continually look for new ways to reduce our environmental footprint,” stated Celadon Chairman and CEO, Paul Will.  “We are honored to be acknowledged for our commitment to sustainability.
