Welcome to “What’s Your Opinion!” This is our favorite segment, well, perhaps just me but that’s besides the point. This is one of our new segments here at Truckers Logic, so any support and commenting is greatly appreciated. For those of us that’s been in the trucking industry for years, we know that health and fitness is a topic that’s pushed under the rug. We’re truckers, right? We don’t worry about our health, we’re worried about our next haul. We want to get it there, get back to dispatch and get home. The truth of the matter is, our health is extremely important. Trucker’s are suffering from some major health issues in this day and age. It’s a subject that we don’t want to bring up, but perhaps it’s time we did. After a recent survey that we personally covered, we’re happy to report on the matter.

What is a truck driver to do about their health? Most of us smoke, sleep 6 hours if we’re lucky, drive all day without exercise and we don’t have a good diet. You know just as well as I do, when it comes to eating, what are our choices on the road? Most truck stops consist of burgers, hotdogs, fries and pop. If we’re lucky, we run into a Subway with enough room to park our truck. We spend most of our time on the road and in between hauls and the yard. After years of truck driving, I know for a fact that nothing will be done about the concern of our health. Due to this, I want to recommend all truck drivers to follow the guidelines listed below.

For starters, I want you to get “The Truck Driver’s Guide To Health And Fitness.” I know, I hear you. “Spencer, you’re just trying to market your damn book!” Perhaps so, but that’s beyond the point. The book cost $0.99! For most of you, that’s 2-3 miles, right? Thought so. If you’re serious about getting healthy, it starts with this book. You have to change your ways, it’s that simple. No one likes routine work better then truck drivers. This is exactly what gets you in trouble. This truck driver health book is going to cover this and so much more. If you follow the guidelines in this book, you’re going to live a much healthier life and you’ll get feel a lot better. You’d be surprised how your diet determines your mood. Heck, it’s likely to make you a nicer person but that’s just a bonus! In all seriousness, your health is important. I know you want to be around to retire and spend time with your children and family. This health book will make that possible.

Now that we have that covered, what’s going to be done about the health crisis in the trucking industry? I may not have all the answers, but I know where we can start. There has to be a major investor thinking about the potential of healthy foods at truck stops. I’m not referring to the bowl of salad that cost $10 either. I’m talking about read healthy foods. There’s a huge market out there but yet, very few take advantage of this fact. Until we pull together as truck drivers and demand change, how can we expect to see it?

How about truck stops with gyms? It doesn’t have to be a fancy gym to be beneficial. What about some truck driver shakes? Vitamins? There’s a lot that can be done, but it isn’t. For one, we deserve better. Our character is always questioned anyway and perhaps rightfully so. Either way, it doesn’t mean we have to agree with it. If you want change, you have to speak up and ask for it. That’s the beauty of this segment and the internet in general. If you’ve never had a voice before, you have one here at Truckers Logic. Remember that Jack, this is your website just as much as it’s mine! I’d love to hear your feedback, ideas, comments and opinions. Don’t leave a fellow trucker out in the wind, you can have your voice heard below. We appreciate all your support and I can speak for our entire staff when I say “Thank You.” Keep tuning in to Truckers Logic and don’t be afraid to leave a comment!
