A suburban Philadelphia mother’s Facebook video has gone viral and we found the video. What’s the message she sent to her son? Well, you’ll just have to watch the video below. Well, we’ll tell you. The mother’s son left for college a few weeks ago, “every mother’s worse nightmare.” Mom, you can relate. But after a few weeks had past, her son has never called her. So in an attempt to reach out to her son, mommy took to Facebook to give him a piece of her mind.
“Do you remember me? I’m your mommy,” Ann Pinto McCarney said in her Facebook video she posted last week. Since then, the video has went viral and apparently she’s not alone as parents are using this as a “battle cry.” Empty nest syndrome? You be the judge.
Ann’s 18-year-old son, Liam McCarney, recently moved away to college, a few hours away what use to be home. He’s actually attending college in Gettysburg. According to his mother, Liam has spent around 3-4 weeks at school as a freshman. Remember college? Especially as a freshman? Well, perhaps mom is thinking worse case scenario here, but needless to say, Liam hasn’t called home once.
Ann McCarney (mommy dearest) is a theater teacher. She knew that her son was usually active on Facebook, so she decided to reach out to him. She posted a five-minute video on last week reminding Liam of everything she has done for him in the past 18 years birthing him, feeding him, taking him to karate classes, paying for his education and all, plus his November tuition payment that is due.
“I need to stop, back it up. Maybe I need to give you the benefit of the doubt,” Ann said in her video. “Maybe you forgot how to use the phone.”
Mom, would you do the same for your son if he hadn’t called you in 3 weeks? Hard to say if this is going to become a trend or not, but we’ve already seen new videos being posted of parents calling out their children. Well done mom!
It didn’t take long for Liam to get notice of his mother’s video. Hopefully he wasn’t around his new friends when he found out. News always travels fast these days thanks to social media and it didn’t take long for Liam to get the message. A day after the video was posted, we caught word that Liam did indeed call home.
This isn’t the first time the mom used videos to call out her son. We found out that her and Liam has made dozens of videos over the years, many of them “funny.” But we’re glad to know that mom and Liam are talking again. I’m sure he’s remember to call mom a little sooner next time.
