The crash originally occurred about 6:40 p.m. on Saturday in a construction zone when a northbound tractor trailer lost control of his rig and struck a crash attenuator, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

After the first impact, the tractor trailer blocked all northbound lanes and part of the SR 46 exit ramp. Traffic came to a stop but a second tractor-trailer driver failed to notice the incident ahead.

That semi-truck hit five vehicles in the left lane, and rear-ended another semi. The impact caused the semi truck to burst out in flames, causing instant panic to all of those involved. Afterward, a third truck rear-ended the burning semi. The driver of the first semi was killed and the body was burned, gauging that the impact was hard. Three additional vehicles were struck and a female driver escaped a vehicle that also caught on fire. The incident was horrific and could have been much worse.

FHP troopers have yet to identify the victim. We do know that dental records will likely be used because the body was burnt so bad. Three people were taken by ambulance to Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, and 15 people were treated at the scene according to Brevard County Fire Rescue District Chief Jeffrey Money said. Since the accident was so massive, we believe it will take some time before a full release will be determined.
